Mildred Fluker

Mildred Fluker was born November 30, 1933, in Brundidge, Alabama. Her parents, Amanda and J. B Knox, along with six siblings, J.B. Knox, Jr., Sam, Pete, Friendly, Gladys, and Mary, all preceded her in death.

Mildred was educated in the Pike County school system and attended Tuskegee College. While living with her sister in Detroit, Michigan, she met the love of her life, Cleo Fluker, who was working for Chrysler Automotive. They were married on January 9, 1960. To this union, two children were born, Rosezetta and Adrian Fluker. They shared fifty-two glorious years before he died in 2012. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri, due to a Chrysler transfer and started a new life in Missouri. Mildred was employed by the state of Missouri, working in the dietary department for over thirty years, where she retired. She reentered the work force as a school bus monitor working several more years.

Mildred was a kind and gentle soul. She loved talking on the telephone and doing word search puzzles. She loved her family and looked forward to all of the family gatherings they shared. She loved and cherished her grand and great-grandchildren.

Mildred attended Methodist Church as a child and young adult. Later in life, she was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost at Truth Church of Apostolic Faith under Pastor Mark Simmons. Mildred departed this life on Monday, September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. God called her home after 901⁄2 years. Mildred leaves to cherish her loving memory: her children, Rosezetta Simmons (Kevin) and Adrian Fluker; six grandchildren, Kelly Rhodes (Phil), Kevin Simmons II (Lakeeta), Brandon Simmons (Alicia), Nicholas Simmons (Shardai), Demond
Barnes, and Timothy Fluker; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
