Larry J. Johnson

Larry 'J. J.' died unexpectedly, in his apartment on Monday, August 3, 2015 in Saint Louis at
the age of 59.
Larry Jerome Johnson was born on August 14, 1955 in Saint Louis, Missouri to his parents,
Juanita and Theoplis Johnson. Larry was one of six children born to this union.
He graduated from Bates Elementary School and William Beaumont High School in Saint
Louis. In 1975 he received an athletic and academic scholarship to Marquette University in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was an accomplished athlete and mathematician. Larry was
employed briefly at the St. Louis Library for the Blind and Goodwill Industries.
He enjoyed walking and connecting with old friends. Many folks wouldn't know that Larry was
passionate about his family. He viewed his role as protector, always making sure that his
brothers and sisters felt safe when he was around. He will be deeply missed by his family,
friends, and all that knew him.
Larry is survived by his father, Theoplis, stepmother Arnetha; three brothers, Ron (Wanda)
Johnson, Reginald (Evelyn) Johnson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Carl Johnson (Danita), three
sisters, Pamela (Sonny) Sutton, Beverly Nichols, Carol Marley, sister-in-law; Janet (Bruce),
Oselia, Pat, six nieces, Denise, Crista, Juliah, Vicki, Marilyn, Jessica; five nephews, Reginald
Jr, Ronald Jr., Jarred, Bruce Jr., Alex; 2 aunts and an uncle, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his mother, Juanita; his brother, Rev. Bruce W. Johnson, and
nephew Ronald Craig Johnson.
