In the spring of 1952, Jerry Dornell Blue I, was the second of seven children born to the union of Johnnie C. Blue Sr. and Violet (Dones) Blue in St. Louis MO. Jerry gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He became an active member of The Antioch Baptist Church in the early 2000's. Educated in the St. Louis public school system, Jerry also attended Florissant Valley Community College studying radio/television broadcasting. He was drafted into the United States Army after he graduated from Soldan High School, where he served in Viet Nam. On August 13, 1973 Jerry was united in holy matrimony with his high school sweetheart Kim Yolanda Blassingame. Jerry had multiple careers, including working for the City of St. Louis, J. S. Alberici Construction Co. and Bi-State Development Agency as a Motor Coach Operator, where he retired after 17 years of service.A connoisseur of music, Jerry enjoyed jazz, rock & roll, R&B and rap. He loved to sing and played the trumpet in the Soldan High School marching band. He was also a member of a jazz group called the Delmoniques and the Fever Funk band. In his youth, Jerry was a popular DJ with a large fan base. Later in life he played trumpet for ceremonies with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jerry's singing career was with the Gospel Unlimited Choir of The Antioch Baptist Church. He had a very special personality; to know him was to love him. On September 21, 2015, he was relieved of his earthy duty in God's army. He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Fannie Blue, Clarence Alvin Blue, Corene Starks and Terrence Blue.
He is survived by his wife (Kim), two sons, Carlos D. Johnson (Teresa) & Jerry D. Blue II (Tekisha), two daughters, Ahleshia R. Crouch (Lamarr) & Shani M. Blue; three grandsons, Devin, Lamarr Jr., & Houston, two granddaughters, Tatiana & Nijah; siblings, J. C. Blue Jr (Velma), Elizabeth Williams, Jaculyn Martin, Desi A. Blue (Zansheree), and JoAnne Blue; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and close friends.
