James L. Cawthon was born on October 15, 1940, in
Hardin County, Tennessee, to Virgie and Jasper Louis
Cawthon. James was the second oldest sibling. His
parents and brother, Willie Gene, preceded him in
death.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age.
James was educated in the Harden County School
System. After graduating from high school, James
moved to St. Louis, Missouri. In 1963, he was drafted
into the United States Army and received an honorable
discharge in 1965.
On June 26, 1970, James married the love of his life,
Elizabeth Franks. He was a very active member of
First Baptist Church of Webster Groves, participating
as an usher, trustee, men on patrol, and anywhere he
was needed.
He leaves to mourn his life: his wife, Elizabeth; sons,
James Michael (Janee) and Jeffrey Louis; daughter,
Dineta Walker of Tennessee; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; brother, Royce Cawthon (Peggy);
sister, Jo Evelyn Williams (Raphael); three sisters-in-law, Barbara Cawthon, Everlean Franks, and
Bertha Franks; a brother-in-law, Theo Franks; a very special uncle, Burnet Orr; and many, many
loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
