Minister Gary Hornes was born December 28, 1955 to Jake and Ollie Hornes in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Gary Hornes started his military career in 1976 as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. His military education included the Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic Course, Primary Leadership Course, Basic Technical Course, Primary Technical Course and the Master Driver’s Training Course.
In 1990 he deployed overseas in support of the Persian Gulf War. He earned the Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze stars for his unwavering service during all three phases of that campaign. His other award, decorations and ribbons include: the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement, Good Conduct Medal ( 5th Award ), National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Driver’s Badge, Mechanic’s Badge, Sharpshooter Badge ( Rifle ) and the Grenade Marksman Badge.
Staff Sargent Gary Hornes served our country and it’s citizens honorably and diligently for 17 years and for that we honor him and thank him for a job well done.
He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He will be greatly missed by his sister Patricia and the entire family.
