Anita Louise Hammonds was born on February 8, 1957, in Buffalo, New York, to Elmo Henderson and Juanita Hammonds.
She attended Soldan High School and dedicated herself to caring for others as a nursing home aide. Anita was a vibrant woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for shopping and was always up for a thrilling horror movie night or a cozy evening watching black and white sitcoms. Her love for music was evident in her admiration for Michael Jackson, Stephanie Mills, and the timeless tunes of Motown.
Anita was a devoted mother to her two sons, Steven and Cleveland, and daughter, Christine, whose lives she enriched with love and wisdom. Though she grieved the loss of her daughter who preceded her in death, Anita found solace in the cherished moments they shared.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, forever etched in the hearts of her family and friends. Anita will be dearly missed by her sons; her sister, Rosalyn; Alfred Johnson, Lakesha Holmes, Juanita Holmes, Timothy Holmes, and Cynthia Holmes; granddaughter, Nyla Robinson; and all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Anita’s laughter, kindness, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
