Reba R. Nelson

Reba was born December 10, 1955 in St. Louis MO. to Ethel and James Madison. Her husband of 28 years love of her life Michael Nelson preceded her in death. Her mother, two of her brothers; Arthur and Jerome and daughter Deona T. King, also preceded her in death. Reba confessed Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a very early age. She was educated in the St. Louis Public school System and earned college credit with Harris Stowe State University in Saint Louis, MO. Reba applied to work for the St. Louis Public Schools District, April 17th 1978 - more than 37 years ago. Reba was not only a dedicated SLPS employee - she was also a proud product of SLPS having graduated from Vashon High School in 1974. Reba known as Mrs. Nelson and simply "Reeb" to others was the warmest most caring spirit around. She took great pride in her life work with the Saint Louis Public schools positively impacting the lives of many, many children and their families for 30 plus years. She was always willing to go beyond in helping people in any way she could, and for this she had many friends and admirers. Reba was the rock for her family and loved ones always there providing wisdom, and encouragement along with unwavering support. She had been a member of the Pastors Aide, Choir, and Bulletin Ministry at Christ's Southern Mission Baptist Church in Saint Louis, MO. Reba was a beacon of hope for many, and through her loving spirit she mothered friends and extended family members in her life's journey. She socialized through community service as well as a professional pass time, participating in bowling tournaments for the St. Louis Board of Education, Bingo, and volunteer efforts. Reba was called to eternal rest on Wednesday June 17th, 2015 at Depaul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO. Reba left tokens of her love through her supportive efforts for those she loved and deemed important. Precious unforgettable memories will always be cherished by her sons Derrick D. King (Victoria); James Nelson; Michael Nelson II; daughters Patrina Nelson (Keith); Brittne Nelson; and Marsha Nelson; a sister - Marsha Crawford (Frederic); brothers - James Tate, Dwayne Madison (Renee), Ross and Darrell (Becky); grandsons Jaimes Nelson, and Jaylun Nelson; a granddaughter Deona Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
