Welcome to the memorial page for

Ethel L. Drummond

February 9, 1929 ~ December 11, 2014 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Ethel Lee tate Drummond was born to Douglas and Mary Tate on
February 9, 1929 in Gaffney, South Carolina. She accepted Christ at a
very early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gaffney.
She married James Madison and moved to St. Louis, Missouri in
1949. Ethel was a master business woman known to many as "Dolly".
She owned and operated a dry cleaners and a confectionary.
Ethel made her permanent church home at Christ's Southern Mission
Baptist Church in 1970 under the leadership of the late Rev. Herman
Gore, Sr. and the late Rev. Herman Gore, Jr. She was a member of
both the W.M.U. and the choir. Ethel was an excellent cook and loved
music. Family and friends came from near and far if they knew she
was cooking dressing.
She had a unique sense of style and dressed to the max, heads
turned when she walked into a room and her hat collection was
second to none!
Ethel leaves to cherish her sweet memory: four sons ~ James, Dwayne
(Renee), Ross and Darrell (Becky); two daughters ~ Marsha (Frederic)
and Reba; two sons preceded her in death ~ Arthur and Jerome, as
well as her son-in-law ~ Michael Nelson; twenty-six grandchildren;
seventy-five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and a
host of nieces, nephews and friends.
