Henry Thomas Maupin

Henry T. "Hank" Maupin, 89, died April 3,
2015 at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton,
Missouri.
Henry was the son of Virgil E. Maupin and Orlanda E. (Kiortyohann) Maupin of
Washington, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. (Ackermann)
Maupin. He is survived by his three sons, Thomas D. Maupin, William H. "Billie"
Maupin (wife, Vicki) and John D. Maupin; his three grandchildren Cynthia, Christine
and Patrick; and many nieces and nephews.
Henry was a proud descendent of Revolutionary War soldier and early Franklin
County Missouri pioneer, Mosias Maupin. He served his country aboard the U.S.S.
Farenholt (DD 491) during WWII and saw action in the South Pacific. He continued
serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve and retired at the rank of Commander.
After serving in the U.S.N., Henry studied and graduated from the University of
Missouri at Columbia. He obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law. He continued to
encourage others (especially his granddaughters) to pursue a degree in law.
He worked for more than 30 years as a labor relations representative for the Ford
Motor Company plant in Hazelwood, MO. He was a friend of both FoMoCo management
and the labor union. He was a loyal user of Ford products.
Henry loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a
hunter of quartz crystals and other gems.
Henry was a fixer of all things mechanical using inner tube rubber bands and scrap wire.
Henry loved his wife, Betty, and family. He cared for his disabled son, John, until well
into his 80's. He loved his granddaughters, Cindy and Christy, and taught them about the
great outdoors.
Henry loved studying history and reading. He was the author of the book "MacClouds
Achieve on Land or Sea". Above all, Henry was a man of great integrity, a striver and an
achiever.
