Betty Louise Davis Edwards was born on October 25, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Louis H. Davis, Sr. and Willa Mae Winston Davis. She was the older of two siblings born to this union.
She was educated in the Webster Groves School District and graduated from Douglass High School. Following High School, she completed 2 years of post-secondary education at the University of Missouri. She accepted Christ at a very early age and was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Webster Groves.
Betty was blessed with two beautiful children who were raised in Webster Groves. She spent her entire career and retired from the St. Louis County Library. In addition to loving to travel the world, Betty enjoyed collecting turtles, sewing, fishing, cooking and playing a variety of games. Some of her favorites were bingo, scrabble, bid whisk and spades.
Being a doting mother and grandmother, when her two adult children relocated to Texas, Betty also decided to move to be closer to them and her grandchildren. She moved from Webster Groves, Missouri to Lindale, Texas in 2005. Betty quickly became involved in Lindale by joining the local quilting club, attending weekly water aerobics, and hosting monthly game nights in her home.
Betty departed this life on her 81st birthday, October 25, 2019. She is survived by her children son LeMonte (Tonya) of Lewisville, Texas, daughter Darelle of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren Jourdain, Peyton, Amanda, Christian and Tristian; her brother Louis (Janet) of Warson Woods, Missouri; her aunt Elizabeth Walker of Webster Groves, Missouri; nieces Joi and Terri; nephew Tre’ Buford and a host of cousins and friends.
She loved her family and loved being a grandmother. Her presence will be missed.
